Summary: Chlortetracycline is a member of the tetracyclines and was the first to be discovered. It has applications as an antibacterial and antiprotozoal drug. For these reasons it may also be used as a food additive. The biological half-life of chlortetracycline is 5.6 hours and it does not metabolize effectively.
