Summary: Sodium dichloroisocyanurate is used as a source of chlorine for disinfection for water treatment. It is used in water treatment for drinking water and in pools. It is mainly used as a point-of-source disinfectant for household drinking water supplies. It is soluble in water up to 227 g/L at 25 C. Upon decomposition it produces toxic fumes of chlorine and nitrogen/sodium oxides. It is classified as a strong oxidizer and hydrolyses in water.
