Summary: Nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) is a synthetic chemical used primarily as a chelating and eluting agent. It may also be used in cleaning products such as laundry detergent. It is soluble in water up to 59,100 mg/L. It has acid dissociation constants of pKa(1) = 3.03, pKa(2) = 3.07, pKa(3) = 10.70. Nitrilotriacetic acid is expected to have moderate mobility within soil. Biodegradation in soil and water is expected to be the major method of natural removal.
