Summary: Bis(2-ethylhexyl) adipate, also known as DEHA, is used as a plasticizer in polymers and adhesives. Plasticizers may such as DEHA may leach into the environment directly from the material they are in. It exists as a pale yellow liquid at room temperature and is soluble in water up to 0.78 mg/L at 22 C. It has a density of 0.922 g/mL at 25 C. The compound will be immobile in soil based on a Koc value of 49,000. Biodegradation in soil and water is expected to be a major fate process. Hydrolysis at a pH of 8 produced a half-life of 120 days.
