Summary: Alachlor is an organochlorine compound used as an herbicide on crops. It is soluble in water up to 240 mg/L and has a density of 1.133 g/mL at 25 C. Koc values ranging from 120 – 2,138 indicate low to high mobility within soil. Biodegradation is expected to be a major fate process in water and soil. Degradation of Alachlor may produce transformation products such as Alachlor ESA, Alachlor OA, and Metolachlor ESA.
